This month's subscriptions benefit
The Chicago Abortion Fund - which helps folks access abortion related care.
Nothing *should* surprise us anymore, but I don’t think most people thought Roe would actually get reversed. The more time passes, the more I think folks are getting a wake-up call for how the last 5 or so years politically are really going to affect them. They’ve started with abortions but anyone paying attention already knows they (the republicans) aren’t going to stop with access to reproductive care. They’ll come for marriage equality. They’ll come for voting rights.
This month, I’m continuing to donate to the Chicago Abortion Fund. They help to provide financial, logistical (aka travel costs) and emotional support for abortions all over the Midwest. Based in Chicago, IL – they reported 80% of the January to March aid help folks from out of state. They get about 500 calls a month (and I would guess that number in increasing with the new anti-abortion laws going into effect).
In June, we raised a total of $178 dollars for The Chicago Abortion Fund. I don’t have a ton of subscribers, but I decided to continue with donations for their fund because I know things are only going to get worse for a lot of people seeking care.
